2026 SKEP WEAVING RETREAT

Sale Price: $1,150.00 Original Price: $1,247.00

Weave Your Own Skep Hive: A 3-Day Retreat

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT ENDS SEPT 1ST

ONLY 12 SPACES AVAILABLE

Weave your very own skep hive during this immersive 3 day retreat, held outdoors under cover in a beautiful acre garden surrounded by four thriving beehives.

Skeps are an ancestral European hive style developed in the early medieval ages. Their circular shape and the highly insulative properties of straw offer wonderful support to the wellbeing of bees. Together, we'll cover everything from selecting and harvesting the right grasses, to preparing materials, weaving, and finishing with cloaming. You'll leave with your own completed hive, ready to receive bees in spring.

Our retreat is hosted at an earthen straw bale home in SE Portland, deepening our connection to the natural materials, straw and cob, that shape both the hives we're creating and the space around us.

To complement our weaving, several guest facilitators will join us to enrich the experience:

  • Olivia Ashton, a conscious tech facilitator, will guide an intentional tech detox, an invitation to power down and be fully present.

  • Soli Gonzalez will teach ancestral European folk rounds to sing as we weave, infusing our hives with prayer.

  • Brooke Durano will offer grounding pauses throughout the retreat to support the body through the physical nature of the craft. Through gentle seasonal movement, aromatherapy, and self-massage, she'll help release tension in the hands, shoulders, neck, and back, deepening our connection to ancestral wisdom, natural materials, and the meditative rhythm of weaving.

Delicious, nourishing vegetarian and gluten free lunches will be served daily, catered by private chef Naomi Tyler.
